The impacts of the global pandemic are not equal across the global economy ̶ different sectors and industries have been affected in different ways. The path to recovery will vary and the issues and opportunities businesses face as they address the new reality will depend on many different factors. But the most important thing is that we must understand that people will always be people. And it’s our responsibility to give our best, and for this, we must be in a good health situation.
The recommendations for social distancing affect nearly every part of our lives, including finances, relationships, transportation, jobs and healthcare.
Some common causes of stress during the coronavirus pandemic are uncertainty, lack of routine and reduced social support, says Mark Flanagan, LMSW, MPH, MA, a social worker at Cancer Wellness at Piedmont.
Although this negative scenario, we can take a look at some self-care ideas for when we are feeling stressed. Self-care is not just about a pedicure and facial mask. Same as our body, our mind needs constant attention to function well. If you find yourself distracted and just can’t seem to focus, mental self-care activities can help bring calmness back. And taking care of our mental health doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. Here are some self-care ideas to fight stress, anxiety, and restore the zen we need.
(i) We can take a break from the news. Constantly hearing conflicting stories about the pandemic can worsen our anxiety about it. You want to be informed about what’s closing and what steps you should take to stay healthy, but decide how much news is healthy for you on a daily basis and try to stick to that.
(ii) Relax with an activity you enjoy. Spending time on your hobbies can be difficult during the fast pace of normal life. But if you find yourself with extra free time, dedicate some of it to relaxing activities like reading, watching TV, or painting. Distracting yourself with an activity you love can go a long way towards relieving your stress. Try something new. Step out your comfort zone.
It’s important to look toward the future and begin building for that future. You can always have hope. Hope never leaves us.”
